Stormy Speaks

Stormy Weather is opry.com's exclusive columnist. A veteran, though self-described "young and trendy music industry insider," Stormy takes readers along as she moves gracefully within Nashville’s elite inner circles and shares her own first-hand observations, take-no-prisoners opinions and juicy commentary on the movers and shakers inside Music City's illustrious entertainment industry. Read it from Stormy like you won't read it anywhere else.

On the Cusp of U.S. & Country History!

The Yankee Doodle Dandy in Stormy can’t contain her all-American pride.  The next time you hear from Stormy (that’s in two weeks for those of you marking your calendars), we will have a new president and entertainer of the year.  Get excited!  As for Stormy, she voted early upon return from her late-October vacation to the Bahamas where she overindulged in the tropical rays and returned home with a frightening case of sun poisoning.  Oh, don’t laugh.  There’s nothing funny about eyes swollen shut and facial distortion that renders one unrecognizable to close family and friends.  The post-vacay exfoliation was brutal, but Stormy is toasty and tan now.

A good tan brings me to mind Miss Faith Hill.  Looks like Faith gave herself a 41st birthday present that keeps on giving.  Unselfishly, Faith is sharing her gift with everyone as she poses on the cover of the December issue of Shape magazine in a teeny, weenie little citrus-colored bikini.  If Faith is any indication, 41 is the new 21.  What’s a husband to do to top that one?  Not to be outdone, the Opry’s own Charlie Daniels celebrated his 72nd birthday with a larger-than-life image on the Jumbotron at the Tennessee Titans/Indianapolis Colts game on Monday night (Oct. 27) in Music City.

It looks like it’s going to get a little more crowded at the Paisley place.  Kimberly and Brad recently announced that little Huck is going to be a big brother.  Finally, little Sunday Rose Urban will have someone to play with in Music City.

Speaking of growing families, it’s a boy!  Our own Opry family welcomed its newest member on Saturday, Oct. 25, with the induction of Craig Morgan, who chose to sing fellow Opry member John Conlee’s signature song "Rose Colored Glasses."  No matter how many times Stormy hears that one, it just gets better and better.

It’s going to be a blue Christmas for our little Opry angel Martina McBride.  She travels to Memphis on Nov. 21 to flip the switch that powers the blue lights at Graceland. Speaking of Elvis, Martina joins fellow Opry member Carrie Underwood along with Gretchen Wilson, Sara Evans, Wynonna Judd and others on the Elvis Presley Christmas Duets album.  Fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches for everyone.

Snaps for Reese Witherspoon!  The Academy Award winner and Stormy’s personal hero comes home to Nashville where she’ll be a presenter at the CMA Awards on Nov. 12.  Stormy can’t wait to see Reese’s glamorous gown and maybe she’ll bring boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal, too.

If there was any doubt in your minds, dear readers, little Carrie Underwood has arrived—in wax—at Madame Tussauds in New York City.  Can’t wait to see how cute she looks.

Stormy has to run now, not literally, mind you.  Of course, she voted early, but she doesn’t have a thing to wear to this weekend’s big show in celebration of Little Jimmy Dickens 60th anniversary as an Opry member.  Let’s see, the traditional 60th anniversary gift is a yellow diamond.  The traditionalist in Stormy is going to take a backseat to the little fashionista that she is.  Stormy’s headed to the mall to find a sparkly, yellow cocktail dress.  Of course she won’t sparkle and dazzle even a tiny bit as much as Little Jimmy, but then again, who can?  Wish her luck!
