A founding father of the progressive country movement out of Austin in the 1970s, Nunn is an independent music pioneer who continues to oversee his own record label and song publishing companies, and plays most every weekend at top music venues throughout Texas and beyond. His song “London Homesick Blues” — with its internationally known “I wanna go home with the Armadillo” chorus — is a signature Texas country song that was the theme for “Austin City Limits” for nearly three decades. Nunn’s songs have been recorded by artists that include Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Murphy, Tracy Nelson, David Alan Coe, Rosanne Cash, and Willie Nelson. In May 2017, Nunn's hit "Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning" — which first struck gold when Willie Nelson recorded it in 1982 — was revived on Nashville sensation Chris Stapleton's new album From A Room: Vol I which just won Grammy Album of the Year.
