Things to Do in Nashville This Winter
Even when there’s a chill in the air, there’s still plenty to do in see in Nashville during the winter.

Experience a Writers' Night
Cozy up to some acoustic tunes and gain an appreciation for the talent this town offers at one of Nashville’s many songwriters’ nights. The esteemed Bluebird Cafe, which helped launch the careers of notables like Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift, is an intimate 90-seat venue with popular nightly shows.
Sample Artisanal Chocolate
Treat your Valentine to a tour of Tennessee’s first and only bean-to-bar chocolate factory. Based in East Nashville, Olive & Sinclair makes artisanal chocolates that are truly Southern-inspired as cacao is stone-ground — like grits — and aged in bourbon barrels.
Tour a Distillery (or Two!)
Warm up to winter with a nip of whiskey or a splash of rum that was handcrafted at local distilleries. Prichard’s, an old guard of the Tennessee distilling movement, makes its rum with sweet American molasses while Corsair delights with numerous experimental whiskeys. Both offer tours and tastings.
Get Moving on a Winter Hike
Make good on your New Year’s resolution to be more active by enjoying a brisk hike at Radnor Lake. Even when Tennessee’s many forests are devoid of leaves in the winter, they make for a truly spectacular sight, and Radnor Lake is just over 10 miles from downtown.
Eat at a Civil Rights Landmark
One of the city's most unique restaurants, Woolworth on 5th celebrates Nashville’s contributions to the civil rights movement in the former space of where pivotal sit-in demonstrations occurred. Enjoy a side of jazz with your soul food.
Tour the Opry and Ryman
The Grand Ole Opry is “the show that made country music famous,” but it wouldn’t be what it is today if it weren't for its most famous former home, Ryman Auditorium. Learn the stories of both the Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry House by enjoying a one-of-a-kind combo tour.
Catch a Predators Game
Get those fang fingers out because the Nashville Predators are back in action after a historic Stanley Cup run in 2017. The Predators’ loyal group of followers includes Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, and Brett Eldredege in its ranks, and fans have plenty of spirited traditions that make the team one of the fun to watch in the NHL.
Revel in the Holiday Season
Just as Nashville loves its rhinestones, it also loves its holiday lights. Don't miss displays at the Gaylord Opryland Resort, Cheekwood Estate & Gardens, and elsewhere around town. Get in the spirit by taking part in various festivities around town.
Go on an Art Crawl
After getting your fill of Nashville’s music scene, explore artists of another medium during the First Saturday Art Crawl, held monthly. Escape winter's chill by ducking into galleries along Fifth Avenue of the Arts and in The Arcade for some culture and refreshments. The exhibitions will be diverse, and the wine will be flowing.
